Asa Putnam and Polly were married between 1820 and 1830. Polly was born on 21 Oct. 1804 in Vermont, United States. She died on 30 Oct. 1886 in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York1010 Northern Christian Advocate (Syracuse, NY) Thursday, Nov. 18, 1886, Volume XLVI, Issue 46, Page 7.. Polly Putnam was buried in Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York1111 Cemetery Record, Fort Hill Cemetery, Auburn, Cayuga County, New York. Home Lot 64 Grave..

Asa Putnam and Polly had the following children:

Sally Ann Putnam, born in August 1824. She married Ephraim Warren Wheeler in Clayton, Jefferson County, New York in March of 18421212 Minutes of the Twenty-Third Session of the Northern New York Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church, Page 70. Published by Hunt & Eaton, University Press, Syracuse, N.Y. 1893.. Sally Ann Wheeler died on 23 Jan. 18481313 Gravestone Record, Bidwell Cemetery, Parish, Oswego County, New York.. Ephraim Warren Wheeler and Sally Ann Putnam had two known children: 1) Gardner Houghton Wheeler, born in 1843, and 2) Hoten Wheeler, born on 13 May 1847, died on 23 Jan. 1848, aged 8 months and 10 days1414 Gravestone Record, Bidwell Cemetery, Parish, Oswego County, New York.
Otis Putnam was born between 1826-1830 probably in Mexico, Oswego County, New York. Otis Putnam died on 14 July 1846 at Point Abino, Fort Erie, Canada West, Canada.
Family researcher Shirley Farone wrote that a fellow researcher named Tyler Rice supplied her with the following information: "In regard to Asa's other children: Apparently one boy was drowned when he fell of a schooner at the wharf. I have a copy of a poem written by E. W. Wheeler as a memorium to his wife Stella sent to Gardner in 1858 to be printed in a local paper, "Northern Independent*." In the poem E. W. first describes having witnessed the drowning and having (to) bear the news to Stella and the family of a lost son (no name, though). He then goes on to mourn the subsequent and recent (?) death of his 'beloved' wife."
The obituary for Otis Putnam read “"DROWNED - Yesterday afternoon a man employed on board the sch(oone)r Paul Jones, named OTIS PUTNAM, was struck by the fore boom while in the act of jibing off Point Abino, and knocked overboard. The vessel was running before the wind at the time, and notwithstanding the helm was immediately put down and the small boat lowered, the unfortunate man sunk before the boat reached him. The deceased was from Mexico in this State. - Buf. Com.1515 Cleveland Herald, Wednesday, July 15, 1846, Page 3."
Note that just four years after the drowning of Otis Putnam in 1846 the family of Asa and Polly Putnam were listed as living back in Mexico, Oswego County, New York. Asa and family may well have been residents of Mexico in 1846 when Otis was listed as a resident of the same town. The above information points to Otis Putnam as being the son of Asa and Polly Putnam.
