ResearchHello Charles Vella—I have a 4th great-grandmother named Susan Houghton. Neither she nor her children are in your (astounding) database.
Susan Houghton (born c 1775) married Andrew Wyckoff, Sr. The couple lived in Amwell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Andrew Wyckoff descended from Pieter Claesen, from whom all American Wyckoffs descended. Pieter Claesen arrived in New Netherlands in 1637. He married Grietje Van Ness, whose family arrived in 1641. Susan’s daughter Sally married into another prominent colonial family. Her husband Daniel Skillman descended from Thomas who came to the continent in 1664 as part of Nicholl’s expedition to take New Amsterdam from the Dutch. Thomas married Sarah Pettit and is the founder of the American Skillman family. I know the Houghtons were an important family in the area where Susan raised her children and I grew up, but I can’t connect her to a family. Here’s everything I have. I’d appreciate any leads. If you can claim her as your own, I’ll be happy to provide documentation of her descendants.

ObituaryLinda May Haughton, 64, of Yakima, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Cottage in The Meadow with her family at her side.

Linda was born October 16, 1951 in Ephrata, WA to Edward L. and Ruth E. (McNatt) Gates. She was raised and educated in Ephrata, graduating from Ephrata High School in 1970. Linda married Daniel Christian Haughton, Jr. September 26, 1970 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. After a short stay in Anchorage, Alaska, the family moved to Yakima in 1981. They raised their family in Gleed. Linda worked almost 20 years for St. Elizabeth Hospital, Providence Hospital, and retired in 2003 from Yakima Regional Medical Center.

Linda especially loved and enjoyed being with family. She looked forward to the annual family camping trips to Kalaloch Beach on the Peninsula in Washington State. She also enjoyed photography and genealogy, but her family was most important to her.

Survivors include her children, Lauralee& Gary Jimenez and Dan & Joy Haughton, III of Yakima, seven grandchildren, Zoe, Tia & Nya Jimenez, Ellya Carhuaz, Ashton, Grace & Cash Haughton; one great-granddaughter, Laila Moore-Jimenez, son-in-law Lamin Cham of New York, best friend and cousin Claudia Fix of Gold Bar, WA and a sister, Jeannie Jesseph of Spokane. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan Haughton on February 27, 2012, daughter Christina Cham and brother Edward George Gates.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 705 S. 38th Avenue, Yakima. Interment will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Cottage in The Meadow, c/o Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory, PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936.
