Thomas Franklin Houghton, 41, was buried in Green Grove cemetery north of here Saturday following funeral services in Kirksville. Last rites were held at the Davis funeral home in Kirksville with the Rev. Cyrus Davis in charge. Mr. Houghton, who lived in Kirksville, had been ill for a year and a half. He was a shoe factory employee. He was born at Stahl, the son of W. D. and Angeline Lawson, in 1900. He was married to Blanche VanSickle of Stahl in 1919 and to them three children were born. They are Mrs. Glen Wood of Yarrow, Lloyd Houghton of Lowground, and Virgil «Houghton of Kirksville. Others surviving are his father, and three brothers, David of Lowgrond, Dr. N. D. of Arizona, and Carmen of Brashear.

He volunteered to serve with the 218th Squadron of the Royal Air Force and in France served on the Von Steuben operating near Dunkirk. After the war ended he was promoted to Ensign and assigned aboard the German prize ship Pretoria. He served on the battleship USS Georgia at some point. Thereafter, he remained in service until his retirement as Chief Engineer, Great Lakes Naval Hospital in 1953.

Navy Hospital at the Great Lakes Naval raining Canter in Waukeagan, III. Ha resided In North Fort Myers. Fla., from 1954 to 1959. staying with son Arthur Houghton who died
recently. Another son, Warren Houghton, and Arthur's widow Lois reside In North Fort Myers. The elder Houghton still is member of the Rabe 0. Wilkinson Post 38, American Legion, of North Fort Myers. Funeral service will be Thursday, afternoon at the Lima- SalmonErlckson Funeral Home, 710 Willow St., in San Jose.
Other survivors include the widow. Mrs. Emily Houghton: four daughters. Mrs. Edna Leonard of Fullerton, Calif., Mrs. Betty Mac- Nanaway of San Francisco, Mrs. Marjorie Hartman of San Jose and Mrs. Grace Neyrinck of Waukeegan, III; another son. Walter Houghton of San Lorenzo: a sister. Mrs. Edna F. Houghton of Corpus Christi, Tex; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Waukegan. III., chapter of Royal Neighbors of America end the First Baptist Church and Legion Auxiliary in Waukegan.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Betty Macmanaway of Cor- al Beach. Fla., Mrs. Grace Ney- rinck of Waukegan, Mrs. Marrle Hartman of San Jose and Mrs. Edna Leonard of Mission Viejo, Calif; and another son, Walter Houghton of Hayward. Calif., 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
