ObituaryPatricia Jeanne Houghton, 73, passed away at her home on Monday, February 5, 2018 in Mesquite, NV. She was born in Binghamton, New York, on September 25, 1944 to David Carlyle and Leah Arlene Martindale Olmstead. She married David Houghton in Ventura, California on April 13, 2007.

Patricia was a sweet woman who loved her family. She loved her husband, David. They were able to go on many road trips all over the U.S. to San Francisco, Alaska, Mt. Rushmore, and New York. She loved nature and animals, and she loved to see new things on their adventures. At home she loved to read, anything from J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen King, or Dean Koontz. She loved Lord of the Rings trivia, and could beat anyone. She enjoyed baseball, bowling, shooting, and the NHRA, watching drag racing and her favorite driver; Tony Schumacher. Patricia was a hard worker and was loved and respected by both employers and employees, and she was never afraid to stand up for what was right. Patricia’s favorite place was Disneyland in CA. She, Kristen, and Aaliyah would go as often as they could, and would be hard-pressed to leave. She loved all of her grandchildren, and was so happy that she inherited eleven grandchildren from David. She was always there for her family, and she will be missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, David Houghton of Mesquite, NV; son, Joe DiRenzo of Los Angeles, CA, daughter; Kristen DiRenzo of Ventura, CA, and her granddaughter; Aaliyah, whom she loved very much, and David’s children; David, Michael and Robert along with eleven grandchildren. Patricia is preceded in death by her first husband, who passed away in 2000, Louis (Gino) DiRenzo, and two brothers; Carlyle and Chuck.

Katherine (Kat) Houghton Bowman, daughter of the late George and Jeanne Houghton, beloved wife and companion to her husband, Eric, "Super-Mom" to her four sons, Andrew, Jacob, Patrick and Brandon, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Kat was born November 12, 1967 in Woodbury, NJ. She attended Clearview High School, graduating in 1986. She attended Juniata College, where she obtained a Baccalaureate Degree in Biology. She and Eric both celebrated each other's 50th birthday within the past three months.
It was during her time at Juniata College that Kat met and fell in love with Eric. Their 25-year marriage can only be described as devoted and adventurous. Their devotion grew stronger as they traveled through life's challenges. She powered through Eric's seven years of medical education. She enthusiastically invested her time and energy into raising four intelligent, talented, and respectful young men. "Adventurous" is the broadest term that describes things like trips to Jamaica for mission work; hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu; snorkeling in Culebra; skiing the Rocky Mountains; raising sons, chickens, goats, cats, quail, turkeys, rabbits, a ferret, turtle, alpaca and a border collie, "Tucker" who almost equaled her energetic personality. Kat and Eric spent ten years designing and building their beautiful log home in central PA. She even enjoyed the challenge of living in a tent for six months with their four young boys (ages 4, 6, 8 and 9 at that time), while being personally involved in finishing their home. Her goal of taking her family to National Parks in every state was nearly complete at 42 states and included dozens of parks where the family shared in the beauty and wonders of our great country.
Kat's talents extended into every activity that her family embraced. She was a very active member of Codorus Church of the Brethren, acting as senior-high youth advisor and long-standing member of the bell choir. For the past 20 years, Kat was intimately involved with the Brethren Disaster Relief Auction where she was a key coordinator for the assembly of thousands of health and school kits that were sent to shelters where disasters strike. She served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 102 and as a den and troop advisor. She was the very proud mother of one Eagle Scout and one soon-to-be Eagle Scout.
Kat was also the driving force behind Eric's Wilderness Medicine Conference that began in 2007. She and Eric allowed their property to be developed into a professional experiential leadership course. For the 3-day course each year, Kat planned and prepared 1,600 meals with the help of dozens of volunteer staff.
Kat is survived by her husband, Eric, and their children, Andrew and his lovely girlfriend, Leah, Jacob, Patrick, and Brandon. She was most proud of her children. The fact that all of her sons were top in their class, athletic, musically talented and patriotic (one of her sons hopes to be an Air Force pilot) was proof of her "Super-Mom" status. Her remaining surviving parents include her stepmother, Dana Testa Houghton; and her in-laws, Paul and Donna Bowman. She is also survived by her brother, Michael and his wife, MJ, and their children, Morgyn, Matthew, Daniel and his wife, Katie; brother, Tom and his wife, Sarah, and their children, Marcella, Helen, Georgia, Theodore; brother, Gary and his wife, Cathy, and their children, Eric and his wife, Katie, Danielle and her husband, James Gilmore, and their son, Travis, Christen, Jonathan, Jeriah, Zachary, Hannah, Bethany, Kayleigh, Luke, and Garrett; brother, Bain Testa and his wife, Martha and their children, Mitchel, Logan, and Sophia; brother, David Testa; sister-in-law, Rebecca and her husband, Mike, and their children, Sarah and Kelsey; and sister-in-law, Patience and her husband, Steve, and their son, Ryan. She was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore; and a sister, Jennifer.
Anyone who knew Kat will miss that look she would give you when she knew you were up to no good.
Eric to Kat: "here's to the next grand adventure!"
A celebration of life service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown, with her Pastor, the Rev. Ben Godfrey officiating. There will be a visitation with light refreshments from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at the church and a visitation from 2-3 p.m. Sunday the 18th at the church. Burial will be in Codorus Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Road, Dallastown PA 17313.
