Millicent graduated from Classen High School in 1929 and went on to the Oklahoma College of Women graduating in 1933 with a BA in Music. Millicent went to work for the Oklahoma City Schools in 1934 and taught at Roosevelt Junior High and Taft Junior High. She was married to Donald H. Akin for 66 years before his death in 2002. Millicent was a member of the P.E.O., Mu Phi Epsilon and the Central Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her son Donald H. Akin Jr. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, in the Chapel of Hahn-Cook/ Street & Draper Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer H. Akin; daughter, Dr. Gloria Rogers Hoggard; and two much-loved granddaughters, Nancy and Holly Rogers. Services will be held at the University Place Christian Church on Monday at 1 p.m. with interment at the Kansas Cemetery in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Directed by Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Funeral Home.

ObituaryGloria Denize Hoggard, nee Akin, MD, of Norman, OK passed away at the age of 75 on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 of complications from her treatment for cancer at St. Anthony Hospital, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born in Oklahoma City on October 12, 1935, the daughter of the late Margaret (Ebb) and Elmer Akin.
She was raised in Oklahoma City, OK, graduating from Classen High School in 1952. Gloria attended Oklahoma City University, and after only three years of college was accepted to the University of Oklahoma Medical School, where as one of only three women in her class, she earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1961. Gloria was the Medical Director for the Oklahoma City Public Schools for 10 years and then later worked as a physician at the Child Study Center at Children's Hospital.
After her retirement from medicine, she and her husband, Ron Hoggard, operated a successful business growing and selling organic herbs in Piedmont, Oklahoma. Following this stint as a farmer and business woman, Gloria decided to reenter academics, earning a Master's Degree in botany from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999. She then began Ph.D.-level work at the University of Oklahoma, researching the genetics and taxonomy of the plant genus Guara. She became known as an expert in this field and authored some of the seminal work in this area.
Upon her final retirement, she and Ron, her husband of 30 years, enjoyed traveling, spending much of their time in Costa Rica.
Gloria is survived by her husband Ron Hoggard of Norman, OK; daughters, Nancy Margaret Rogers, Esq. of Superior, Colorado, and Hollister (Holly) Blaine Rogers, MD and husband, William Price, MD of Durham, North Carolina; grandchildren, Nicholas Rogers Nasrullah, Sophia Hollister Nasrullah, and Margaret Rose Rogers Price. Gloria was much loved by her family and large community of friends and will be missed by many.
Memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2011, at Church of the Savior, 2750 N Mustang Rd., Yukon, OK, with interment following at Kansas Cemetery, at the intersection of Morgan Rd. and Arrowhead NE, Piedmont. A reception to celebrate Gloria's life will follow at the home of Beth Freeland and Ali and Logan Wilke at 2618 Morgan Rd., Piedmont.

ObituaryClinton Haughton, beloved husband of the late Joyce Louise Haughton, departed this life and began his heavenly journey on Sunday morning March 30, 2014 at the age of 80 years old. Clinton was lovingly known by a few names. You may have known him as Mr. Zebbra (or just Zebbra), Spit Fire or Pops. But whatever name he was called by, he was always there. He was very loved and will definitely be missed.

Clinton was born on Wednesday May 24, 1933. He was born and raised in Hanover Parish, Jamaica. He was a resident of Norristown, Pennsylvania. Clinton worked various jobs over the years with his latest being Shop Rite in East Norriton and Plymouth House Nursing Home in Plymouth Meeting.

Clinton enjoyed his reggae music, which he liked to play loud so everyone else could enjoy it with him. Before he became ill he could be seen walking everywhere. He refused rides by those he knew because he enjoyed his walking. He MOST enjoyed being surrounded by his family. His home was always filled with the sounds of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the Patriarch to his large, loving family.

Clinton is survived by his sons: Delbert, Winston, Lenord all of Jamaica, Lawrence Scarlett and his wife Lisa, of Blue Bell, PA, Richard Scarlett and his wife Angela of Norristown, PA and Everton Scarlett and his wife Janese of Burlington, NJ; Daughters: Angela of Jamaica, Doreen Scarlett (Eduardo) of Tampa, FL and Margaret Knight and husband Tony of Norristown, PA. He is also survived by a brother: Washington of New York, brother-in-law: Phillip Brown of Jamaica, sister-in-law: Iona Redguard and her husband Rupert, of Blue Bell, PA He is survived by 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and other family members in Jamaica.

Besides his wife Joyce, he was preceded in death by a son: Fitzroy Scarlett and a grandson: Courtney Shaw.

Joyce was born on Friday November 13, 1936 to parents Joseph Brown and Florence James. She was born and raised in Montego Bay, St James, Jamaica. She was a resident of Norristown, Pennsylvania. Joyce was a skilled seamstress and owned a shop in Jamaica and Norristown. She was also employed at several area nursing homes as a Certified Nurses Aide, most recently at Regina Nursing Home in Norristown and held her last employment with Sharp Packaging Corporation in Conshohocken, where she retired in 2008.

She enjoyed sewing, going to the casino, and playing bingo. She MOST enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Her home was always filled with the sounds of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the Matriarch to her large, loving family.

Besides her husband, Joyce is survived by a brother: Phillip Brown of Jamaica, sister: Iona Redguard and her husband Rupert, of Blue Bell, PA. Her sons: Lawrence Scarlett and his wife Lisa, of Blue Bell, PA, Richard Scarlett and his wife Angela of Norristown, PA and Everton Scarlett and his wife Janese of Burlington, NJ; Daughters: Doreen Scarlett of Tampa, FL and Margaret Knight and husband Tony of Horizon City, TX. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Neville Brown, a sister: Catherine Brown-Edwards, a son: Fitzroy Scarlett and a grandson: Courtney Shaw.
