Biography2010Peggy M. Houghton, Ph.D. I am a Professor of Doctoral Studies at Baker College. I was initially hired as a full-time faculty member at Baker College of Auburn Hills. Later I advanced to Associate Dean of Business Administration and subsequently Dean of Business Administration. After completing my Doctorate degree, I chose to focus my abilities toward the instructional aspect of my career. I was hired as full-time Graduate Faculty for Baker College Center for Graduate Studies. In this capacity, I was Chair of the Leadership Studies Division of the College, where I had the opportunity to teach in both traditional and nontraditional educational environments. While Baker College began the process of being granted a doctoral degree, I transitioned into this department. I am very proud to announce that I was selected as the first full-time faculty member of the Baker College accredited DBA program.

My educational experience began by earning my Bachelor Degree from Oakland University, where I majored in Marketing. After graduation, I owned and operated a franchise restaurant. After five years in the restaurant business, I decided to pursue a teaching career. I received my Master´s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University and my Ph.D. in Management from Walden University.1

Jo Havens

F, #97971

Biography

A Contributor to Houghton Surname ProjectN
Birth
EmailMar 5, 2010Hi Charlie: Interesting - My older sister's name was
'Vella Mae Havens'. My father's name is Herbert Charles Havens. :.
I published Havens Harbor - a 4x yearly Havens - all spellings - newsletter of 30+ pages each issue for 12+ years.
I quit publishing hard copies in 1998 but now have all 12+ years on CD plus a lot of other Havens books. The CD can be read like a book - no search features when it was done on his machine. CD copies are $27.95 includes S&H
I don't want any of my Havens info in print or on the web as I have copyrighted it.
In genealogy a 'proof' comes when you have at least 3 completely different items for the proof. Not copied from another book 3 different times.
Havens has been my bailiwick since 1982 when I started with a Commodore 32 and NO hard drive. No crashes just a floppy.
----------------
There was a Haven surname group - I'm not sure they still are going but will check for you.
A lot of them have been in contact with me but they didn't have nearly as much info as I had then except for their own lines.
----------------
I do have updates to the Richard Haven of Lynn 1843 book, i.e., 1844 & 1849.
Plus I have a book on Sgt. Richard Haven 1629 - 1703 Lynn, Mass & 'King Philip's War'
and One Line of His Descendants.
----------
Includes:

1) Rev Samuel Haven D.D. 1727 - 1806 and his children.
Compiled by William Haven 1845 -
Tulsa, OK 1927.
----------

2) William Haven 1770 - 1856 and his descendants.

PLUS Cushman - Merwin - Holcomb and their Colonial Ancestors.

A total of 101 pages and dozens of surnames on each page. No index for them as it would be nearly as long as the book. It's done in the ancestral lines from Richard of Lynn on down.
-----------
I know Haven and Havens intermarried several times in the Havens of NJ book and my CD books also.

There have been rumors for 100's of years that Richard Haven and William Havens - the first 2 of those names to America wee brothers.
NO PROOF HAS EVER BEEN MADE GIVEN AS YET.
But I am in contact with a few Havens in England and one man is sure he has the ancestors of the William Havens above. We're still working on that. I do think he is correct.
I will have to contact him to see if he found a Richard Haven.
William Havens families all lives on the coast near a harbor - seafaring and farming people I think.
Sad to say England takes up headstones and stacks them at the end of cemetery rows and uses the plot for several bodies - stacking them up til they can't add any more on top.
Good luck finding those stones as they get moved around a lot.
Better than the Russians - they took the Polish cemetery headstones after WWII and made roads out of them and covered the plots over with rocks and dirt and then planted lots of trees for a (nice) park so the Polish people would 'forget' their ancestors were ever there.
I learned this from a cousin of mine who walked from town to town and people would whisper and beckon to him, invite him in to eat and told him all about his and my ancestors and how them lived.
He didn't want to eat as he could see how poor they were but they cried if they didn't.
Whoops - my muse is awake. I have buried
him (George) for 5 years as we had illnesses in the family then surgeries. All is as good as can be now so I'm eager to delve in again.
I'm really long winded but anyone doing genealogy does that and doesn't quit til they die but it gets passed along anyway. :.

May the Lord Bless you and yours forever !
