Earl O. Houghton, 66, Schenectady, formerly of Carthage, died June 25 in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Mass., after a long illness.

Arrangements were with the Bond Funeral Home, Schenectady. Burial was in Memory's Garden, Colonie.

Survivors include his wife, the former Eleitha Fries; a son, Keith, Rotterdam; a daughter, Mrs. Christine Kaplanowski, Broadalbin; two grandchildren; three brothers, Floyd, Phoenix, Ariz., Walter, Lowville, and Donald, Brantingham Lake, and three sisters, Dorothy Burke, Watertown, Ruth Rockwood, Garden Grove, Calif., and Marjorie Benware, Black River.

Three brothers, Lansing, Leo and Stanley, died before him.

Born Aug. 21, 1923, in Denmark, son of Oscar and Pearl Roeder Houghton, he was a graduate of Carthage High School and was a Schenectady resident for 45 years. He was employed as a toolmaker in Building 10 for the General Electric Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1979.

Mr. Houghton was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the Bellevue Reformed Church.
