Mr. Houghton was born Oct. 8, 1924, on the family farm. He was a farmer and a stockman and was considered a pioneer in lhe development of Simmental cattle. He was a member of the Hunter United Methodist Church and the Hunter Lions Club. He was a Mitchell County 4-H leader and was active on the Mitchell County Soil Conservation Board.
Survivors Include his wife, Bernice of the home; two sons, Keith of Jerseyvllle, Ill., and Leon of West Lafayette, Ind; two daughters, Kathy Jensen of Olathe and Patsy of Colby; three sisters, Florence Anderson of Winter Park, Colo., Lois Glllan of Garden City and Margaret Warren of Galva and 6 great grandchildren
