The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan Methodist Church with the Rev. Laurie Greenlaw officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Long Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours were scheduled for 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Rennell Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma; a son, William Houghton Jr., Moravia; three daughters, Phyllis Jean Burger, Naples, Fla., Mrs. David (Barbara Ann) Fournier, Nashau, N.H., and Janet K. Houghton, Billerica, Mass; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, John, Speculator, and Arthur, Indiana; two sisters, Lois McAveigh, Norwich, and Martha Harvey, Redfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Born Feb. 24, 1919, at Long Lake, a son of Hamor and Harriet Brown Houghton, he served with the Army during World War II. He married Wilma Brown Feb. 21, 1942, in Clay Center, Kan.
Mr. Houghton was a train operator for National Lead Co., Tahawus, for several years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Long Lake American Legion.4
