Alex Ross: Just doing some research on my house and found it was owned by Hardin Houghton from 1853 to the early 1870s. Just curious about his family and where they went after they lived here. He and his wife Lucinda are buried in a town not far from here, but the children are not there, having moved on. He was employed as a manufacturer of wagons and carriages and the shop he used is still standing. Have a copy of his deed for the property dated 1853.
I reside in the town of Davenport, Delaware county, New York State. Hardin Houghton and his second wife are interred in the town of Laurens, Otsego county, NY. After they sold the home I now own then moved there and lived out their days. Hardin passed in 1880 and Lucinda passed in 1879. Another Houghten, Jennie L., who passed in 1882 is also interred there.⁶
