HOUGHTEN —Services for Mr. Houghten. son of pioneer Detroit area parents and founder and president of one of the nation’s largest glove companies, will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Santer Funeral Home, 20209 Fenkel. Mr. Houghten, of 17165 Red- ford, died Thursday in Mt. Carmel Hospital after a long illness. He was 85. He founded the Good Luck Glove Co., manufacturers of work and dress gloves in Carbondale and Metropolis, MI., and was its president for more than 40 years until he retired in 1956. He was a Mason. Survivors include three sisters, Della E. Houghten, Mrs. Elsie E. Stuckey and Mrs. Pearl M. Smith. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery.

Biographybetween 1771 and 1780He was a Lieutenant in the 53rd Reg. of foot and came to America; served in theis regiment until 1777 when he was wounded with Bourgoyne at Ticonderoga; purchased lieutenancy in 1771. In 1780, he and his men and 300 Indians burned down Royalton, VT. A Lt. Houghton was taken prisoner with Bourgoyne's army.1
