Augustus F. Houghton, head of the automotive trade counselor staff for two McGraw-Hill publications--The American Automobile Overseas Edition and El Automovil Americano--died yesterday in his home in the Tudor Hotel, 304 East Forty-second Street. He was 72 years old.
Born in Jersey City, he had been with McGraw-Hill and its forerunner, the Business Publishers International Corporation, for twenty-to years. He was a member of the Export Managers Club of New York and the Overseas Automotive Club.
His widow, Mrs. Marjorie Houghton, survives.11

BiographyHis grandfather was William Boardman, an alderman who owned the Neptune Iron Works in New York City and helped quell the Draft Riots of 1863.
