Houghton's regiment, Col. John Whitcomb of Boston, Gen. Artemus Ward, stationed at Cambridge. He was wounded in knee at Bunker Hill and was permanently disabled.';

JWH, p. 408: 'Abijah Houghton was one of the minute men of Lexington and Concord. He received a bullet wound at the battle of Bunker Hill.';

Marvin: "The company of minute men, under Capt. Benjamin Houghton, marched without delay, to Lexington...regiment of Col. John Whitcomb...including Elisha Houghton and Abijah Houghton...In June, Andrew Haskell became captain of the minute men under Col. Asa Whitcomb 3 months, 14 days, Capt. Benjamin Houghton, Abijah Houghton."

MLM: He turned in for the alarm at Lexington and served in the Revol. like his father. Enlisted Apr., 1775, under Capt. Benjamin Houghton's Co., Col. John Whitcomb's Reg. He responded to the call to arms and was stationed at Cambridge under Capt. Haskell (Andrew), same Reg., under Gen. Artemas Ward at the seige of Boston. Her was wounded in the knee at Bunker Hill, receiving both bullett and bayonet wounds. The soldiers had less than 20 rounds of powder per man for the seige of 10 months. He appeared in the census of 1790 of Sterling, MA, USA 1 male 16+, 2 males under 16, 5 females. He appeared in the census of 1800 of Keene, Cheshire Co., NH, USA 11001-11001; 1 male 1-9, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 45+, 1 female 1-9, 1 female 10-15, 1 female 45+. Notable Houghton: Abijah Houghton Jr (1749-1831) was one of the original Minutemen in Rev. War and was wounded at Bunker Hill. He was buried at Bradford Road Cemetery, Keene, NH, USA.
